Trapper Compensation Information
Information for trappers impacted by the creation of the Muskrat Falls reservoir
Nalcor will provide compensation for trappers whose ongoing trapping activities have been adversely affected by flooding of the Muskrat Falls reservoir.
Trappers active in the lower Churchill River valley that can substantiate a claim of loss of income due to the Lower Churchill Project (LCP) will be compensated. Individuals who apply will be required to demonstrate a continuous and successional use of the area for which they are seeking compensation and will be required to submit an application form along with supporting documentation to validate their claim. Payout of compensation to eligible trappers will be based on proof of loss of income. Personal information submitted to will be kept confidential.
Note: while trappers will need to demonstrate impacts on income, Nalcor does not require ten years of trapping activity to qualify for compensation.
