Tshiashkueish Lower Churchill IBA Scholarship

The Tshiashkueish Lower Churchill Impacts and Benefits Agreement (IBA) Scholarship program is funded by Nalcor Energy for the benefit of Labrador Innu under the terms of the Lower Churchill Innu IBA. Scholarship awards are administered by the Tshiashkueish Committee, a joint Nalcor Energy and Innu Nation committee.

Each year, scholarships are awarded to Labrador Innu between the ages of 18 and 30 who are enrolled full-time in a college or university program. The program must be a minimum of six months duration. Scholarships are awarded primarily based on financial need, but will also consider academic standing and the applicant’s community service activities.

For the 2020-21 school year, scholarship awards will be awarded to Labrador Innu between the ages of 18 and 30 who are enrolled full-time in a college or university program. The program must be a minimum of six months duration. Scholarships will be awarded primarily based on financial need, but will also consider academic standing and the applicant’s community service activities.

Where possible, the scholarships will be equally distributed to members of the Mushuau Innu First Nation and members of the Sheshatshiu Innu First Nation. If the committee is unable to distribute the scholarships equally, the remaining scholarships will be awarded according to student availability and in accordance with the selection criteria outlined in this application.

The 2021-IBA Scholarship application process will open in summer 2021.
