Job Information & Hiring Protocol

Construction of the Muskrat Falls Project, including the generating facility, transmission lines and other project infrastructure began in 2012.

The project has created significant employment opportunities for qualified workers in skilled trades and professional occupations at construction sites around the province as well as at our project offices.

Employment on the project peaked at over 6,000 people. In 2019, approximately 92% of the workforce were Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.

Hiring Protocol
The Benefits Strategy between Nalcor Energy and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador establishes a hiring protocol for the Muskrat Falls Project. Commitments made in the Impacts and Benefits Agreement with Labrador’s Innu Nation are a priority, followed by consideration of employment for qualified residents of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, then outside Canada.
