Construction of the Muskrat Falls Project, including the generating facility, transmission lines and other project infrastructure began in 2013.
The project is creating significant employment opportunities for qualified workers in skilled trades and professional occupations at construction sites around the province as well as at our project offices. In 2016, employment on the project peaked at about 6,000 people, approximately 83% of which were residents of Newfoundland and Labrador.
As with all large construction projects, employment levels, skills and experience requirements will vary significantly over the course of the project depending on the type of work being undertaken and as various phases of work are carried out and completed. As construction on the project continues to advance, different qualifications and worker expertise is required.
